Col d’Orcia is a traditional producer of Brunello di Montalcino, who decided to continue using large Slavonian oak barrels many years ago, well before the debate between modernist and traditionalist producers even started. Still today, Col d’Orcia age their Brunello di Montalcino for a minimum of 3 years in large oak barrels before bottling, storing the bottles in the cellar for at least 1 year before releasing the wine to the market. The result is a wine of ruby colour with violet hues, a truly pleasant bouquet of fruity notes, mainly black cherry and jam, followed by typical hints of vanilla and spices. In the mouth it is warm, with ripe and clear tannins, with good intensity and persistence.
