Mattia Vezzola reserves his 'Grande Annata' line for masterful interpretations of only the greatest vintages of his acclaimed bollicini (or sparkling wines). Produced usign the classic method from 80% Chardonnay, ripened to perfection on the oldest outer moraines, exposed south and south-east, plus 20% Pinot Noir exposed south and south-west. This 2013 vintage is characterised by the very complex harvest, always strictly by hand, but with excellent quality. This Rosé was conceived with the intent of expressing an unusual desire, to unite the immediacy and energy of Pinot Noir with the elegance of Chardonnay; values which are expressed from the off in its pale pearl colour. The very fine and discrete perlage produced from the second fermentation in the bottle is completely satisfying for even the most demanding palates - an exemplary wine. Half of the must ferments and evolves in 228-litre white oak casks for about eight months to give the wine a beautiful structure and perfect balance. As a result the wine is complex, featuring red fruit, strawberry, redcurrant and wild peach aromas, along with citrus and floral notes of violet and cyclamen. It also presents a sweet ripeness of freshly picked fruit and flowers in the background. In the mouth it is full and elegant, a sublime marriage of structure and vivacity, presenting the best expression of pink bubbles to date.
