Only Cabernet Sauvignon grapes harvested from vines planted on iron-rich clay and sandy soils in the Alghero region are used to make this impressively rich, yet mellow red. Made from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown on strong, iron-bearing clay that an ancient geological upheaval mixed with windborne sands. A terroir that shapes and influences the varietals in a Mediterranean key, making the wine unique and captivating. Maturity is engrained into the wine from 14 months ageing in small French oak barrels, followed by another year spent in the traditional large casks plus 18 months in the bottle. After the harvest, the grapes ferment for an extended period on the skins, enhancing depth and complexity. This 2017 vintage presents a saturated ruby red colour and purple highlights, it is enveloped by ample, very intense aromas, defined by notes of black cherry and blackcurrants, tobacco, and spice. On the palate, it's very diverse and complex with wonderfully supple tannins, notes of ripe, red berries, elegant roasted aromas, and a touch of eucalyptus. The palate is rhythmic and silky, with depth and structure that its good acidity keeps in formidable balance. An extremely elegant wine with beautiful length that has an ageing potential of roughly 12 years if stored correctly. The finish is warm and seductive, exceptionally persistent.
