Calvados Fine V.S.O.P. 70cl PÈRE MAGLOIRE

The Calvados region is located in Basse-Normandie where apple cider was brewed perhaps as early as the 8th century. Today, Calvados is one of France’s most loved brandies though, unlike the grape brandies Cognac and Armagnac, Calvados is distilled from cider produced using up to 200 different apple varieties in order to obtain the right balance of flavour. The VSOP is made only from apples harvested in the Pays d’Auge, an area covering barely 6% of Normandy, whose soil gives the apples richness and strength. The cider is then double distilled in copper stills and finally blended with Calvados which has been aged in oak barrels for at least four years.
