The name "Long Now" was given by a member of The Long Now Foundation who referred to a special clock designed by Danny Hillis to tick perfectly for 10,000 years, recalling the long-living characteristics of this wine. First launched in 2000, Pelissero dedicated a specific plot of Nebbiolo vines just to be used in blending with the Barbera varietal especially for the production of this "Langhe Rosso", along with a small percentage of a rare and almost unknown local vine. This innovative blend was conceived by Pelissero to exalt the potential of the 2 main varietals that are grown from precious aged vines. In production, each varietal is matured separately in small oak barrels for 15-18 months, then blended and bottled and aged for a further 4-5 months before being marketed. The result is a Langhe of violet-blueish, almost black, colour with a lively and particularly pleasant bouquet with a marked varietal scent, and an aroma of ripe fruit with a hint of vanilla. In the mouth comes an explosion of the velvety full body, a pleasant expression of the varietals with an unforgettable taste.
