Only Cabernet Sauvignon grapes harvested from vines planted on iron-rich clay and sandy soils in the Alghero region are used to make this impressively rich, yet mellow red. Maturity is engrained into the wine from 18 months ageing in small French oak barrels, followed by another year spent in the traditional large casks plus 18 months in the bottle. This 1997 vintage is ruby red in colour and its nose is intense and mellow with remarkable red fruit fragrances. In the mouth it is mature showcasing the classic flavours of Cabernet Sauvignon combined with warm notes of hay, balanced by the vanilla and cocoa flavours derived from the French oak ageing. Recommended to decant about 3 hours before serving.
