Located in the heart of the estate, halfway up the hill overlooking the Orcia River, lies the Poggio al Vento vineyard. Its name, meaning "windy hill," reflects its unique aspect and soil composition, yielding the exceptional Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Poggio al Vento. This wine, characterized by powerful yet elegant tannins, undergoes lengthy ageing in traditional large oak barrels before release.
Produced only in the finest vintages, Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Poggio al Vento represents the pinnacle of Sangiovese expression in Montalcino.
Selected Sangiovese clones, locally known as "Brunello," were sourced from the Col d’Orcia clone bank. Harvest timing was based on achieving perfect ripeness for a structured, long-lived wine. Manual harvesting involved meticulous selection of the best bunches in the vineyard and cellar.
After fermentation, grapes from different vineyard sections were kept separate to select the best batches, resulting in a rich, complex, and elegant bouquet with cherry, ripe red fruit, spicy, and oak hints.
This intense ruby red wine is well-structured, rich, and full-bodied on the palate, with powerful yet ripe tannins balanced by refreshing acidity. It offers an excellent, enduring, and elegant finish that harmonizes with its bouquet.
