Poliphonia Signature 75cl WB (2018) MONTE DOS PERDIGÕES

The name "Poliphonia" is given to the top range of wines by Granadeiro in celebration of the musical background of the Perdigões Mount, which was once home to distinguished Portuguese conductor and composer Luís de Freitas Branco. In vintages of the highest quality, winemaker Pedro Baptista selects only the best yields to be dedicated to form the Poliphonia Signature - this wine is never the same between releases making each vintage unique in its own right. The carefully selected grapes from the vineyards of the Perdigões Mount are vinified separately, using mills made from marble of Alentejo and other strict mechanical steps. A prolonged maceration is applied to maximise the extraction of phenolic compounds, colour and aromas before maturing for 18 months in new French oak barrels, followed by one year in the bottle. The result is a superb wine with a deep garnet colour and an intense, elegant bouquet with notes of jellied fruits, spices and tea. In the mouth it shows great structure, with firm but ripe tannins, and a long, complex finish with great volume.
