The word Vanotu is the diminutive in Piedmontese dialect of Giovanni, Giorgio Pelissero's grandfather and previous owner of this vineyard, and it is a part of the winery for which the family has great respect. Thanks to the particular climate and exposure of the vineyard, even in poor vintages wines of great character and personality can still be obtained. Aged for 20-22 months in barriques and 9 months in bottles, this wine is concentrated, fruity, and has a soft tannic complexity. It is an innovative wine whilst maintaining and exalting the great qualities of Nebbiolo. The I Piani has an intense ruby colour, and the bouquet expresses fruity notes of raspberry and cherry, well harmonized with persuasive woody notes of vanilla. The aromatic frame also presents notes of sage, mint, thyme, and camomile: a real trademark of the soils of the vineyard. In the mouth it is velvety, ample and full of sweet and lasting tannins, with a great polyphenolic structure and the right acid-tannic balance - synonyms of long lasting wine.
